The Division of Information Technology in the UAEU remains committed to its vision of "Being recognized as a center of excellence in leveraging information to advance learning, teaching, research, and student development in alignment with the UAEU’s mission and goals". This was not an easy task since the year 2021 was a constant battle of mixing online and physical work/learning processes, and thereby affected our technologies and IT tools, as we worked diligently to balance individual health and safety regulations while maintaining service levels and providing the university’s community with the required technologies to adjust to such a situation.

In 2021, DoIT completed 37 projects through which it achieved a significant added value to the university’s faculty, staff and students. When you go through the details of some of these projects later down the pages of this report, you will realize that each one of those projects was meant to serve our mission of “Focusing on communication, collaboration, efficiency, effectiveness, research, outreach, service, and global impact in the field of Information Technology”, in addition to “our commitment to serve the needs of the next generation and our customers’ expectations with regards to the use of innovative technologies”. In addition to the accomplishment of the mentioned projects, this year, the focus has been on Digital Initiatives, such initiatives are a testimony of the importance of digital transformation for the university’s community and of DoIT’s recognizing and paying a great deal of attention and focus on such a substantial part of the information technology world.

Finally, 2021 presented many challenges for technology providers around the world, and the most important challenge was the ability to bend and amend the technology to serve the requirements regardless of the circumstances the world was going through. In 2021, DoIT certainly rose up to the challenge and the result was a non-interrupted learning/working process, thanks to the creative technological solutions provided to the university’s community to carry on their tasks without being affected by the fluctuations of 2021. As always, I am proud of my team and their accomplishments, and I hope the following pages of this report will provide you with a glimpse of these accomplishments and achievements. As well as equipping the UAEU’s community with some much-needed information regarding their information technology provider.
